Russian league heads to a breath-taking finale in one of the most competitive leagues in years with CSKA Moscow and Rostov both continuing with wins and Moscow maintaining the two-point difference. Meanwhile, Zenit was travelling to Dagastan to face relegated team Anzhi in hopes of finishing first or to at least grab the second position that leads to Champions League qualifiers.
A poor first half for both teams went on Anzhi Arena with Zenit having possession and better movement in the field. Lodygin was a spectator as Anzhi was not creating any chances while watching Dzyuba solving the riddle in – possibly the only proper attack from Zenit- that found Shatov, Hulk and the Russian forward all cooperating for the 0-1 at the 25′ minute.
Anzhi slightly improved in the second half but still wasn’t enough to produce the equalizer and even though Zenit failed to double their goals and secure the win earlier, they managed to escape with the three points, keeping the pressure on Rostov and CSKA with three match days remaining.
