Axel Witsel stayed in St. Petersburg as he continues to recover from Euro 2016 and watched his team win the second Super Cup in a row and the fourth in team’s history.
The only goal in the game came from Mauricio (22′) and proved more than enough for the Blue-White-Sky blues, in front of 22,000 spectators at the Lokomotiv Stadium. Villas Boas’ successor, Lucescu, opens his time in St. Petersburg with a trophy.
