Second matchday started today in the Russian league with Zenit visiting Ufa and Axel Witsel back in the starting eleven for Mircea Lucescu.
Ufa’s artificial pitch made things tougher for Zenit who again played without Dzyuba and had trouble putting the ball in Shelia’s net. Biggest chance for the Blue-White-Sky blues with Axel hitting the right post on a close-range shot and another good header from the Belgian that went wide.
Zenit’s late rally couldn’t secure the first win for St. Petersburg, who now turn their focus on -last season’s surprise- Rostov at Petrovsky stadium on August 12th.
