Petrovsky stadium welcomed the “El Klasikov” between Zenit and CSKA Moscow, for the fourth matchday of the Russian Premier League.
Ezequiel Garay’s almost perfect curved free kick hit the woodwork at the 22′ minute with CSKA being luckier in the next minute, opening the score with Eremenko’s shot from the edge of Zenit’s box resting in Lodygin’s nets, 0-1 to Moscow.
Axel Witsel’s header tested Akinfeev’s reflexes with the Russian preventing the equalizer, but birthday boy Zhirkov was more effective, heading in Criscito’s beautiful cross, bringing things level before half time.
Lodygin was there to prevent CSKA from regaining the lead, some good chances from Shatov and Zhirkov couldn’t bring the second for Zenit and two teams left with a point each, making that three draws in four games for the Blue-White-Sky blues.
