Zenit`s Belgian halfback shared his impressions from the match vs. Derby County, and said he wasn`t surprised by the strong play of Zenit`s younger players.
• I felt very good physically. We played a good match, and I played the first half, and I think that was plenty enough. We played confidently. Maybe we didn`t always make the correct final pass by our opponent`s goal, but that`s normal for a friendly match. And of course I`m happy that I scored in my first match of the season.
— Was it hard to play against a British team in such British weather?
• Nobody likes playing when it`s just pouring non-stop all match. But if that`s what happened, the conditions were the same for both teams, and overall the rain didn`t cause any problems for us.
— Were you surprised by our young players, who created a bunch of scoring chances?
• No, not at all. We work with them every day, and know their strengths, and they played really well.
