Axel Witsel shared his thoughts after the away win against Ural in Ekaterinburg:
“It’s always difficult to play after returning from the international break. We knew this and we were ready for it. We had a good first half, we scored and generally controlled the game. In the second half, I think the team felt a little tired. We couldn’t score the second goal quickly, but luckily at the end we got it. It was very important that we didn’t lose.
Zenit seem to never give up. How do you evaluate the results on the first part of the season?
Yes, it’s going great. We have good team spirit and we’ve had a great first part of the season, we’ve created a lot of chances, and many of them have been scored. We’re still unbeaten, so this is a good start to the season.
What do you think about the next game in Ireland?
It will be a difficult match. Starting tomorrow, we will start our preparations and will analyse Dundalk. In general, as always, we will go for the win.
