Zenit visited the city of Ekaterinburg to face FC Ural for the 3rd Day of the Russian Premier League and it took Danny only five minutes to open the scoring as he curled a beautiful shot in the upper right corner of Zabolotny’s post.
Next twenty minutes Zenit kept possession and had a couple of chances with Witsel’s flying kick and Rondon’s tete-a-tete not being enough to double the score for St. Petersburg’s team. FC Ural created more chances by the time and on the 35′ minute, Chilean captain Gerson Acevedo scored an amazing lob from inside Zenit’s box, leading the two teams tied 1-1 to half time’s break.
Rain kept falling in Ekaterinburg making the game tougher for both teams and resulting into a poor second half with Ural trying to keep a precious one point and score a goal in counter-attack. Anxiety was weighing down Zenit’s players legs and the usual attacking duo provided the solution as Hulk served and Rondon executed at the 75′ minute giving the Blue-White-Sky-blues their 3rd consecutive win in three games.
Zenit face FC Ufa next for the Russian Premier League on Saturday 16th August in Petrovsky stadium.
