With Hulk and latest addition Ezequiel Garay absent (extra days due to World Cup), Zenit played their last friendly game during their training pre-season camp in a rainy evening in Austria.
The Blue-White-Sky Blues faced Steve McClaren’s Championship side Derby County and although Kerzhakov’s winning penalty at the 10th minute was not converted into goal (Danny missing), Axel Witsel gave the lead to Zenit for the first half with a close range shot in the 33′ minute.
Andre Villas Boas tried different faces for the second half and Ivan Soloveev formed the final result to 2-0 for the Russians , only minutes before the final whistle.
Zenit now focus on the two-legged games for the third qualifying round of UEFA Champions League, where they face AEL Limassol of Cyprus.
