Petrovsky welcomed Lucescu and the players of Zenit, as the new season kicked off today in Russia.
Axel Witsel between the subs (joined the team at a later stage due to Euro 2016) with Zenit playing without their last season’s “cannons” Hulk (transferred to China) and Dzyuba (injured).
Lokomotiv had a passive role throughout the game with Zenit having the initiative but failing to finish the job and score. Shatov, Kokorin and Zhirkov had some great chances as did Axel Witsel, who came in 20′ minutes before the final whistle, but were all denied by a great Guilherme.
Teams shared a point at their opening game, as Zenit travels away next week to face FC Ufa.
